Qualcomm has announced that the company is improving its BREW mobile platform, so that it will make it easier for developers to create BREW applications in 2010. The company is focusing on adding new components like Java virtual machines, device management, browsers, multimedia, instant messaging, and calendar applications to the OS.
The BREW update will also allow developers to write for a single platform that can be distributed across multiple handsets from multiple manufacturers. Developers now have to craft applications for each individual handset using the BREW platform. The first handsets to utilize the improved BREW platform are expected in 2010.
