After featuring lists of Android applications, Verizon is recommending webOS applications that run on the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. Here's a snapshot of just a few of the apps available for Palm webOS users:
The Business of Apps :
+ News: AP Mobile, The New York Times, NewsRoom ($4.99) and Engadget.
+ Top Stocks Lite – delivers customers free real-time stock market information with prices, line charts, news stories and summaries on each company and index in the United States and abroad.
+ Expense Tracker – helps customers keeping track of their balances on a day-to-day basis. For $1.99, Expense Tracker uses a powerful algorithm for the creation of recurring expenses and makes it easy to detect abnormalities so customers can start saving.
A+ Apps for Students:
+ 3D Plotter ($1) – allows students to plot graphs of two-dimensional functions in 3-D by entering the formula and the range they want to plot with the option to change the color scheme.
+ Translator – which can translate 45 languages relying on Google’s translation services. Alternatively you can visit Google’s website to use the service.
+ Periodic Table – the premier reference for the Periodic Table of Elements, available in either Standard or Landscape mode for $1.99. By using simple gestures to navigate the table, customers can click on any element to see detailed information. Extra features include the ability to change the display of the table based on criteria such as melting points, density and valence.
Super-mom apps:
+ Shopping List – For $1.99, customers can create template lists for meals or items they frequently buy to simplify creating shopping lists. Lists have the option to include a name, enable prices, specify sales tax, and assign priority. Items have the option to include a name, price, quantity, aisle, multiple coupons, sales tax, and notes. Preloaded with a default store that has more than 600 items, customers can get started right away and can send lists via e-mail and SMS so that special loved one won't forget the milk.
+ The Weather Channel – The idea is that moms should know whether they should grab an extra umbrella for the soccer game. This free GPS-enabled app gives customers instant access to accurate and local weather details, including interactive radar and satellite maps, current conditions, and hourly forecasts.
Palm Pre Plus is available for $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate, and Palm Pixi Plus will cost $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate, each with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers can find these apps along with many more in the Palm App Catalog located on Palm webOS smartphones.
