Samsung Galaxy Tab is an Android 2.2 Froyo-based tablet phone with a 7-inch touchscreen display, manufactured by the South Korean Samsung. The device was introduced on 2 September 2010 at the IFA in Berlin. The Galaxy tab has been released in the United States from T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular. It is also available worldwide.
The international version of Galaxy Tab has model number P1000. T-Mobile version is also known as SGH-T849 Galaxy Tab. The AT&T variant of the Galaxy Tab is also known as Samsung SGH-I987. While the CDMA version for Verizon / US Cellular is SCH-I800 Galaxy Tab.
Unlike the Apple iPad, you can actually use the Samsung Galaxy Tab with phone function to make and receive phone calls (except models sold in the US, need a hack to enable the phone function). The international version of the Galaxy Tab has voice functionality, while the versions for the U.S. come with phone function blocked. Just not traditionally, you'll want to use a compatible Bluetooth / wired headset in order to comfortably make a phone call with the non-US Galaxy Tab. If there isn't one, then the tablet phone uses its in-built speaker to support telephone functionality as speaker phone.
Running on Android 2.2 (upgradable to Android Gingerbread 2.3) Samsung Galaxy Tab features a brilliant 7-inch touchscreen with scratch-resistant glass, robust HTML Web browsing experience with full support for Adobe Flash 10.1 for video and mobile gaming, and a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application processor. It has dual cameras, 3MP rear camera and 1.3-megapixel camera for video chat on-the-go. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 offers two fast and easy ways to enter text onto the tablet – a virtual keyboard and SWYPE technology for faster and more intuitive text input with one continuous finger motion across the virtual keyboard. The table below provides more detailed information on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 specifications.
Note: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 specifications may vary depending on the variant ( GSM/CDMA/carriers/countries ).
