HTC S730 SmartPhone US Version hits FCC. The FCC recently cleared the US edition of the S730, codenamed WING200. It looks like the US will be getting their own US-spec HTC S730 soon enough.
The FCC has dropped the ball on this US-bound handset that they’re internally calling the “WING200.” The FCC internal codename combined with the diagram of the FCC label leads us to believe that this handset is the US-version of the HTC S730 Wing. The only HTC S730 Wing on the market supports European 3G frequencies, so we’re glad to see that the successor to the hybrid keypad/keyboard-toting HTC S710 Vox will be bringing US-friendly 3G (HSDPA on the 850/1900Mhz bands) support to the table.
The US-spec HTC S730 Wing will likely have the same spec-sheet as its Euro-counterpart, with the exception of a US-compatible 3G radio. That means Windows Mobile 6.0 is the OS of choice, and the quirky keypad/keyboard that we loved on the HTC Vox will be making its second round in the US.
Details regarding the availability and price are not known at this time.
