T-Mobile confirmed 3G iPhone for Austria? Yeah, we've heard some rumors about the next-gen iPhone (Unlocked 3G iPhone for Belgium?, Unlocked 3G iPhone for Italy?) and it's time for Austria, According to Austrian newspaper Der Standard, T-Mobile has confirmed the 3G iPhone for the Austrian market. During a press conference in Vienna, T-Mobile announced that the 3G (UMTS) version of the iPhone will be available soon and that Austria will be the test market for the new phone. Austria will reportedly be one of the first countries worldwide to receive the new phone.
The 3G iPhone is expected to launch with flexible pricing plans, which is in line with previous speculation that Apple is changing their business model with the 3G iPhone - no longer sticking to a carrier-locked model and allowing carrier subsidization.
Interestingly, T-Mobile has confirmed the 3G iPhone through other sources: Fscklog.com contacted T-Mobile Austria and their reply was (translated) "Yes, we plan to bring the iPhone with UMTS-support to market, but can't and are not allowed to say when yet." Stay tuned.
