Now you can use the digital compass on your Google Maps app for Windows Mobile. The new 3.3.1 update for Google Maps adds hardware compass support for the HTC HD2! When you are in the My location mode, the location dot changes into a blue arrow, indicating the direction your phone is facing. If nothing happens, you may have to walk and turn around a little bit to somewhat trigger the use of the compass.
In order to get directional data from the compass, there is no need for you to enable GPS positioning in Google Maps. It won't work in combination with GPS, so just have GPS turned off in order for the compass functionality to work properly.
