Embedded security solutions provider, Discretix, has announced a robust, flexible ,content protection solution for Intel-based tablets, handhelds and smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2010. The solution features Discretix’ Multi-Scheme DRM client, which has been optimized for Intel’s second-generation platform, codenamed “Moorestown”, and Linux-based Moblin OS.
Discretix's Multi-Scheme DRM client is a versatile solution that protects the distribution and consumption of premium content across a range of mobile devices. With today’s announcement, tablets, handhelds and smartphones based on Intel’s Moorestown platform will be able to support the major DRM schemes in use today — OMA DRM v1.0, OMA DRM v2.1 and Microsoft WM-DRM 10. CPRM, OMA BCAST and new schemes may also be added as they become available. As one of the world’s leading embedded security technology providers for mobile devices, Discretix’s content protection solutions deliver an outstanding level of security while overcoming the challenges of performance, power consumption and silicon footprint.
“Discretix’s content protection client offers a robust solution to system manufacturers while meeting the most stringent requirements of operators and content owners. In combination with Intel’s Moorestown platform and Linux-based Moblin OS, the client delivers a superior user experience by supporting a broad range of business models and services such as video on demand and eBooks,” said Raanan Tzemach, EVP, Content Protection BU manager for Discretix. “We are excited to be working closely with Intel to make such advancements possible.”
“The Intel Atom processor is enabling customers to deliver full Internet and rich media experiences across a range of mobile devices – tablets, handhelds, and smartphones,” said Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group. “The combination of Intel’s Moorestown platform, Linux-based Moblin OS, and Discretix’s content protection client will make it possible for consumers to watch and enjoy premium content wherever they go.”
