Jibbigo English-Chinese Speech Translation iPhone App available fordownload

Jibbigo has released Chinese English Speech Translator App on iPhone. Jibbigo is bi-directional; it translates a spoken sentence from English to Chinese or from Chinese to English for a two way dialog between English and Chinese speakers (Bi-directional operation is available on iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G only.

Jibbigo-Zh is a bi-directional (English<->Chinese), natural speech-to-speech translation app for your iPhone 3GS or iPod 3G, that lets you converse with a speaker of another language through spoken language. It does not require an internet connection to operate and does not send your private data to a server unless you explicitly ask it to do so.

Jibbigo is not a dictionary and not a phrase book, but a speech translator: You simply speak a sentence in English or Chinese into Jibbigo, and it speaks the sentence aloud in the other language, much like a personal human interpreter would. Jibbigo also shows the recognition and translation in English and Chinese as text on the app screen, so you can be sure your translation is accurate to what you spoke. For the Chinese sentence you will also see the pinying transcription.

Jibbigo is a product of Mobile Technologies, a start-up founded by Dr. Waibel, a Carnegie Mellon University professor. The English/Japanese version of Jibbigo quickly became the number-one grossing app in Japan and the most downloaded travel application at the iTunes Japan store when it launched in January. Jibbigo is also available in an English/Spanish version and the company is working on additional languages.
