Australia's Optus has announced the launch of Australia's real-time navigation service with live-traffic on all mobile platforms. Optus Navigator is available free of charge to Optus OB subscribers and for a monthly fee for consumer and SMB subscribers. The service, powered by Telmap, will enable Optus subscribers to enjoy a real-time navigation service.
In addition to providing real-time, mapping and navigation, and real-time traffic updates, Optus Navigator subscribers will also have up-to-date access to points of interest from Lonely Planet. The live traffic updates will be provided by Optus' own live traffic service which uses the Optus network of 8 million customers to deliver real-time traffic data across Australia.
The App is already available for download and Optus OB subscribers can download and use the app absolutely free. SMB and consumer subscribers can download the app for free, get a free trial and then pay their monthly subscription directly from their monthly Optus bill.
Commenting on the launch, Telmap’s CEO Oren Nissim said: “We have partnered with Optus to create a special edition of Telmap Navigator for the Australian market which leverages Optus’ unique traffic service and the Telmap leading technology to provide a complete on-the-go experience for the mass market. Telmap will continue to work closely with mobile operators and support them in offering a competitive local and valuable experience to their subscribers as part of their core services.”
