BlackBerry OS 6.1 Firmware unveiled

In addition to the BlackBerry Payment Service beta at DEVCON Asia, Research in Motion has also announced the coming of developer tools for BlackBerry OS 6.1. The new BB6.1 application platform will build upon BB6 and boast new features such as Magnetometer / digital compass API's, OpenGL-ES 2.0, Window API, event-based geo-fencing location API's, enhancements to barcode API's for additional formats & custom decoding, and much more.

BlackBerry Developer Tools 6.1 will be available soon, apparently be launching in the next quarter or two.
