StingRay RF over Fibre |
ETL Systems, a global designer and manufacturer of RF distribution equipment for satellite communications, will showcase its successful RF technologies at this year's SET Expo in São Paulo, Brazil.
The UK-based company has been expanding its presence in the LATAM market, with its debut at SET Expo following an order from the Chilean arm of one of the world's largest telecommunications companies - Telefonica.
Telefonica chose ETL's Vortex L-band switch matrix / router system to upgrade its teleport RF equipment. The Vortex matrix will be supplied as an expansion ready system, meaning that it can be easily expanded as Telefonica's RF switching requirements grow.
ETL's Vortex solution provides resilience through dual redundant power supplies and CPUs. In the unlikely event of a failure, all active components can be hot-swapped whilst the unit is in service and the system can be fully controlled and monitored remotely via a web browser interface.
Amongst ETL's satcoms products on show at SET will be the StingRay RF over Fibre range - the most compact fibre chassis on the market. As the first product of its kind to introduce hot-swap power supply units (PSU) in a 1U RF over Fibre chassis, StingRay addresses the growing number of satellite teleports requiring reliable short distance fibre links. The StingRay RF over Fibre solutions now include indoor and outdoor chassis options, redundancy systems and modules for longer distance transmissions.
Visitors to the stand will also be able to see ETL's Modular System and the Scorpion Passive Component Mounting System. The compact Modular System is used for L-band signal management and is comprised of a chassis, accommodating up to 16 RF modules. All modules can be hot-swapped and mixed within a chassis, providing upgradeability, flexibility, and resilience. The Modular System is particularly well suited for equalising signals - offering adjustable gain and slope - but also splitting/combining and redundancy switching.
The new components mounting system, Scorpion, offers an easy-to-use, cost-effective and compact system for ETL's range of passive L-band splitter/combiner components. This 1U 19" chassis is designed to accommodate ETL's 2, 4, and 8-way passive splitter/combiner modules. It is designed to utilise standard 19" mounting systems to allow compact, neat mounting of RF components.
Rafael Zamora, ETL's Sales Manager for LATAM, will be among ETL representatives at the event to discuss the products and highlight ETL's quarter of a century of experience in designing award-winning RF equipment. The company is also recognised internationally for its innovation and professional service and benefits from dedicated in-house RF and test engineers, with custom-made solutions a particular speciality.
