Vodafone Ireland has announced that it is to invest €7million to provide new data centre services for its business and public sector customers in Ireland, as part of the expansion of its Cloud & Hosting business across Europe.
Vodafone enterprise customers will now be in a position to enhance their IT security, increase their operational flexibility and reduce costs. The development will enable customers to securely outsource their full IT hardware resources and store large volumes of data and software applications with Vodafone, in either dedicated or shared infrastructure environments. The data centre services will be available to customers from the end of October 2015.
The initial offering will see Vodafone Ireland bring a comprehensive range of cloud and hosting services to the market, from simple co-location to managed hosting, private cloud and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). These are services that eliminate the need for businesses to maintain extensive IT resources, helping them to become more flexible, more secure and save costs.
Vodafone is leveraging its 20 years of expertise in Europe in the cloud & hosting sector, which has delivered complex enterprising hosting solutions to hundreds of large and small companies throughout Europe. These new services will complement the existing capabilities from Vodafone Cloud & Hosting services across a network of 18 data centres in the UK, Germany and South Africa. Organisations using the new Irish facilities will benefit from the global breadth and high levels of security of Vodafone’s global network.
This expansion brings Vodafone Ireland’s investment to date to almost €25 million over the last number of years in expanding its total communications capabilities for business customers.
