Worldwide initiative will leverage JW Player's high quality audio capabilities and massive footprint to spread UN Global Goals to seven billion people in seven days
NEW YORK -- JW Player, a leading digital and mobile media platform and player company, has signed on as the digital audio technology partner for Project Everyone. The worldwide initiative aims to bring mass awareness to the UN Global Goals, a mission to solve extreme poverty and tackle climate change by 2030. Backed by Global Citizen and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Project Everyone will strive to bring the Global Goals message to seven billion people worldwide in seven days.
JW Player will power the online portion of the Radio Everyone initiative, a pop-up radio station with a mission to spread the Global Goals message through the world's most widely accessible medium. JW Player's flagship video player will deliver unique premium audio content curated by influencers from around the world, including Sam Smith, Michelle Obama, and Bill and Melinda Gates, as well as live music from Ed Sheeran and Coldplay at the Global Citizen's Festival in New York City. This audio will then be distributed by major global broadcasters, including BBC Radio, New York Public Radio, and CBC Music.
"Video is our focus, but our product is truly the fastest and most adaptable player for any type of media." says Chris Mahl, President of JW Player. "With such a flexible platform, we're always looking for unique ways to leverage the power of our player, and the opportunity to engage in a project involving radio, a medium that reaches billions of people globally, was very exciting for us. We are well equipped to help empower Project Everyone to meet their ambitious and worthy cause, and are honored to join such highly-regarded partners in the effort to end extreme poverty and climate change. Given our own commitment to innovation we find it especially fitting that scientific and technological research is central to the Global Goals."
"Radio's unique position as the most accessible medium makes it the most important way of communicating the Global Goals to people across the world," says Piers Bradford, Project Director of Radio Everyone. "We are delighted to be working with JW Player to help us with our ambition of reaching as many people around the globe as possible."
The Project Everyone initiative will run from September 26, 2015 - October 2, 2015, starting with the Global Citizen Festival in New York City's Central Park. To learn more about Project Everyone, visit www.project-everyone.org. To learn more about JW Player, visit www.jwplayer.com.
