iPhone Firmware 1.1.3 Jailbreak Details
iPhone Firmware 1.1.3 Jailbreak Details. Software/firmware revision 1.1.3 has been jailbroken (full read/write access to the filesystem), meaning that unofficial third-party applications can be installed under this release. Unfortunately, the current method is so complex that its developers have decided to hold off a public release.
The jailbreak method requires hardware modification. This means that unless you 1) really know what you are doing or 2) are crazy, you won't be attempting the hardware mod. Secondly, indications are that the team who put the jailbreak together has no plans to release it - at least not until Apple releases the SDK in late February.

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic 3rd-Clone
Nokia 5700 XpressMusic was cloned again. This time, the 3rd-Clone (number 3) seems to be an improved version of the original. Its features recommends it a possible major hit on China's mobile market: 3 inch QVGA touch-screen display, 2 megapixel camera, TV receiver, FM radio, microSD slot, and Bluetooth connectivity. Anyway, the device can be an option for those with lower budget that cannot buy themselves the original or simply prefer this version over the one branded Nokia.

Palm Nova Upcoming OS
Palm Nova - Palm's Upcoming OS. Palm has been generating a new generation of OS for quite some time now. There have been many speculations on what it would be named. It has been learned recently, however, that the new Palm codename inside the company is Palm Nova.
The smartphone in question's codename is Zeppelin (someone is apparently into the recent Led Zeppelin reunion) and Palm is calling the new operating system Nova. And while not much else is known about Nova, we do know Nova, when it is released, will support legacy Palm OS applications. Not much is known about this new OS as of current, other than Palm is reportedly beta-testing it on an unreleased Palm device. The company is developing the OS to be unveiled officially by late 2008 with the purpose of releasing the new Palm device by around February 2009.

iRiver prepares GSM Linux-based Phone
iRiver prepares GSM Linux-based Phone. iRiver, brand division of the South Korean electronics and entertainment company ReignCom, presented at CES its first mobile phone, a GSM device that has lots in common with Apple's iPhone. The phone doesn't have a name yet, so it's referred as "the iRiver GSM phone" and its producer intends to bring it on the US market until the end of 2008.
The look of the future iRiver phone is very close to the one Apple came up with, but this isn't really an uncommon thing among the post-iPhone handsets. Since it has a similar design, the iRiver GSM phone also lacks a keypad, hence the text input and navigation are made via the generous 3 inch touchscreen that provides a 480 x 272 pixel resolution: touching, sliding, flipping – exactly as you'd do with an iPhone. The iRiver phone uses a Linux-based OS, and its User Interface is another aspect that reminds us of the Apple handset.
