ZTE has signed purchase agreements with five U.S. technology vendors at total value of 3 billion USD. Under these framework agreements, ZTE will purchase semiconductor components from QUALCOMM, Texas Instruments, Freescale Semiconductor, ALTERA and Broadcom over the next 3 years. Developing close ties with U.S. chip vendors has allowed ZTE to develop highly competitive telecom solutions while reducing the time to market of its products. In the past, ZTE has paid over USD $4 billion to U.S. vendors for intellectual property and hardware products.

Adobe AIR SDK 2.5 released for BlackBerry Tablet OS, Android and iOS
Adobe announced at the Adobe MAX 2010 conference the availability of Adobe AIR 2.5 for televisions, tablets, smartphones and desktop operating systems. Adobe AIR 2.5 now supports BlackBerry PlayBook, Android and iOS devices. Desktops running on Windows, Macintosh and Linux OS have been supported. It also supports televisions with Samsung as the first television manufacturer to ship Adobe AIR in its line of Samsung SmartTV devices. Also device manufactures Acer, HTC, Motorola, RIM, Samsung and others are expected to ship the AIR runtime pre-installed on a variety of devices including tablets and smartphones later this year and early 2011. Acer Liquid Metal S120 has been spotted hitting FCC labs. According to the report, the cell phone supports WCDMA II and V bands which is compatible with AT&T’s 3G network. The test model S120 DVT2 sports Android 2.2 Froyo, Qualcomm’s 800MHz MSM7230-1 CPU, 802.11b/g/n WiFi. It has been rumored to boast a 3.6-inch 480×800 WVGA touchscreen display. The device is at the FCC, meaning we could see it hitting some U.S. operator’s portfolio (AT&T?) in the near future.
