Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo to be preloaded with Canal+ app inFrance
Sony Ericsson has announced that it will be pre-installing Canal+ mobile application to its new Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo Android smartphones in France. Starting April, both mobile phones will let French customers access Canal+ TV programs for free, directly from the homescreen. No word whether the applicaiton pre-installed on the Arc and Neo will be different with the currently available in Android Market. Sony Ericsson will also release its PlayStation-certified Xperia PLAY in France later this month, but without the pre-installed Canal+ app. However owners can enjoy mobile gaming with some pre-installed games on the device.

Good news Android smartphone owners, Samsung Romania has confirmed on its Facebook account that the Samsung Galaxy S will have Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware update by the end of this month. The Android 2.2 Froyo software update will also be released for the I5500 by next week whereas I5800 users will get the Android 2.2 firmware by end of this month.
NTT DOCOMO to remove SIM Lock from new cell phones, will provide FOMA cards and micro SIM cards
NTT DOCOMO has announced that customers may request to have the SIM lock capability removed in principle from any DOCOMO wireless device newly marketed on or after April 1, 2011. The decision reflects DOCOMO’s desire to meet the needs of customers who want to use unlocked wireless devices on other operators’ mobile networks by simply switching SIM cards, such as using a DOCOMO handset as a local device overseas.

Rebtel mobile VoIP hits 10 million users
Rebtel, the world’s second largest mobile VoIP company after Skype, has announced it has surpassed 10 million users worldwide. The profitable start-up has had a record breaking twelve months and increased revenues by more than 120% to $40 million in 2010. Rebtel’s figures show it is currently growing five times faster than Skype and plans to continue this trend by almost doubling its revenue to $75 million by the end of 2011 with a current run-rate of $55 million.
